The first stage: can Google see your pages

A technical website audit is the first stage of GEO and SEO optimisation. We check whether Google and AI search can read your pages at all. Without this, changes to headings and copy will not work: even the best page brings no traffic if Google cannot see it or sees the wrong address.

Technical audit: analysing your website's pages

A website SEO audit before any fixes

We crawl the website the way Google sees it and check every finding by hand: false alarms never make it into the report.

What we check in a website SEO audit

  • indexing: are the pages open to Google (robots.txt, noindex, X-Robots-Tag);
  • the sitemap: does it contain the right pages and nothing unnecessary;
  • redirects and redirect chains, 404 and 5xx errors;
  • canonical and hreflang tags for language versions;
  • AI crawler access (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended) - in robots.txt and on the server: hosting or bot protection often blocks them without any warning;
  • click depth: important pages should be no more than 3 clicks from the home page;
  • duplicate pages, empty pages and pages without text;
  • heavy images and speed (covered in detail at a separate stage).

Indexing: a common reason pages are missing from Google

A page can be closed to indexing by accident: a tick box in the CMS settings, a noindex tag left after development, a robots.txt disallow or a canonical pointing elsewhere. The website looks fine from the outside, but it is not in Google. That is exactly where our SEO analysis begins: which pages Google can see, which it cannot, and why.

GEO audit: can AI crawlers see your website

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI take their answers from pages their crawlers have been able to read. Many hosts and DDoS protection services block these crawlers without warning. We check access using the crawlers' real details: robots.txt may allow access while the server still refuses it.

A comprehensive website audit: what the report contains

  • a list of technical problems, explained in plain language;
  • what to fix, why and where the change is made: theme, CMS settings or hosting;
  • a note of which problems affect the pages in your package;
  • a baseline: the state of the pages on the day of the audit, against which results are later compared.

Questions

Do you fix the technical errors yourselves?

The package includes the audit and the report: what to fix and where. Page fixes can be ordered after the audit - auto-fixes on WordPress or our specialist. Changes to the server, plugins and theme are made by you or your developer.

Do you need access to the server?

No. We check your public pages the way Google sees them.

How is your audit different from an online website checker?

An online checker produces hundreds of warnings with no priorities. We check every finding by hand, remove false alarms and show what genuinely holds back the pages in your package.

How do I order a website audit?

Start with a free check of up to 10 pages. If you find the result useful, choose a package by number of pages and place an order.
